When There Are No Words Art Can Express What is Inside

Emotional honesty is the measure of a human being through the reconquest of his or her own heart. As an artist I find beauty in this honesty. Emotions are complex because they are fluid and ever changing, which is an obstacle to verbal communication. Language that is written or spoken compartmentalizes essences and ideas. With language locations and boundaries are established and the organic nature of an idea is lost. My world exists between these boundaries, and because it is undefinable I cannot ask anyone to fully understand this elusive world. This is why I create work that embraces a fluidity of forms. Emotional honesty is the realization of interconnectedness. In this way individual experience becomes transformative, one seemingly separate being cannot be without other beings. My work is a visual language with which I bare my soul.

Kinship

I simply believe that the world needs more compassion, and this is the reason I paint. I've made it my task to establish a visual language of kinship, the sense that we are all connected. Human, animal, an botanical anatomy are blended to demonstrate that we are all a part of something larger than ourselves. I view my work as a counter balance to a world that is often divisive on the surface, when in truth we are connected by an invisable web. When we harm others we are mostly hurting ourselves, and when we help others we are bestowing kindness upon ourselves.
